We are in search of a Senior Test Engineer – IoT & Embedded Systems to join our innovative team as our new #bloqstar. In this role, you'll play a crucial role in building the first dedicated IoT/embedded test practice at Bloq.it, designing automated frameworks and “break-the-locker” stress regimes that guarantee rock-solid quality across hardware, firmware, and cloud connectivity.

What you’ll be doing: 

• Own the IoT/embedded test strategy—define standards, tooling, and metrics for functional, regression, performance, and stress testing of smart-locker devices.
• Design and implement automated test frameworks (HIL, SIL, network simulators) that integrate with our CI/CD pipeline for every firmware and hardware release.
• Develop rigorous stress and fault-injection campaigns, validating connectivity, power resilience, environmental robustness, and OTA update reliability.
• Collaborate with Hardware, Firmware, Cloud, and Field-Service teams to reproduce field issues, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions.
• Create and maintain test fixtures and labs, including custom jig design, sensor rigs, and remote-access infrastructure for distributed testing.
• Analyze test data and fleet telemetry, building dashboards that highlight quality trends, regression hotspots, and reliability KPIs.
• Mentor QA and engineering peers, evangelizing best practices and fostering a quality-first culture across the company.

What you’ll bring to the table: 

• 7 + years of hands-on testing experience with embedded or IoT products (MCUs, SoCs, gateways) in high-availability environments.
• Proficiency in Python (PyTest, Robot, or similar) and at least one systems language (C/C++, Rust, or Go) for low-level test harnesses.
• Demonstrated success building HIL/SIL frameworks, automated stress rigs, or environmental chambers and integrating them into CI (GitLab/GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.).
• Deep understanding of embedded Linux/RTOS internals, bootloaders, OTA mechanisms, and common IoT protocols (MQTT, HTTP, BLE, CAN, Modbus, etc.).
• Experience with lab instrumentation and measurement tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, network emulators).
• Strong analytical skills—able to turn raw logs, metrics, and telemetry into actionable insights that raise product reliability.
• Fluency in English, both verbal and written.

It would be great if you would also have:

• Familiarity with cloud IoT platforms (AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT, GCP) and edge-to-cloud observability stacks.
• ISTQB Advanced, Certified LabVIEW Developer, or similar testing/quality certifications.
