We are searching for a Data Engineering Manager, to join our innovative team as a new #bloqstar. This person will lead our Data Engineering efforts, helping shape the data platform that powers product decisions, operational excellence, and business insights across the company. You will play a key role in building a strong data culture, ensuring data quality, scalability, and accessibility as Bloq.it continues to grow.

What you’ll be doing: 

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Data Engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, quality, and continuous improvement.
  
  

• Own the delivery and evolution of Bloq.it’s data platform, including data ingestion, transformation, and serving layers.
  
  

• Partner closely with Product, Operations, Finance, and Engineering teams to understand data needs and translate them into scalable solutions.
  
  

• Define and promote best practices for data modeling, data quality, testing, documentation, and governance.
  
  

• Ensure reliability, performance, and scalability of data pipelines and analytics infrastructure.
  
  

• Drive prioritization and roadmap planning for the data team in alignment with business and technical goals.
  
  

• Establish KPIs and SLAs for data availability and accuracy.
  
  

• Promote a data-driven culture by enabling self-service analytics and trustworthy insights across the organization.

What you’ll bring to the table: 

• Proven experience (5+ years) in data engineering or software engineering, with 2+ years in a leadership or management role.
  
  

• Strong experience designing and maintaining data pipelines (batch and/or streaming).
  
  

• Solid knowledge of SQL and data modeling concepts (e.g., star/snowflake schemas).
  
  

• Hands-on experience with modern data stacks and tools (e.g., cloud data warehouses like BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift; orchestration tools such as Airflow or similar).
  
  

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  
  

• Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data engineering, such as Python.
  
  

• Strong problem-solving skills and a data-driven mindset, with the ability to balance short-term delivery and long-term architecture.
  

It would be great if you would also have:

• Experience working with products that combine hardware and software.
  
  

• Experience in fast-growing scale-ups, especially during rapid growth phases.
  
  

• Previous experience building or scaling a data platform or data team from scratch.
  
  

• Familiarity with analytics engineering and BI tools (e.g., dbt, Looker, Power BI, Tableau).
  
  

• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
