We are in search of a Senior Backend Engineer to join our innovative team as our new #bloqstar. In this role, you'll play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining the brains that power our smart locker solutions.

All Bloq.it backend services are currently Typescript-baked NodeJS (on top of Express) and we’re mainly using MongoDB and Redis as databases. We also rely on Datadog for monitoring and alerting. That said, we're not tied to a specific stack. What matters most to us are solid software engineering principles and the ability to adapt to the best tools for the job. Currently, we're rolling on AWS, with GitHub for code versioning and GitHub Actions for continuous integration, deployment and delivery, but we’re always open to exploring new technologies that drive better solutions.

What you’ll be doing: 

• Participate in all stages of the development and post-development lifecycle

• Proactively provide creative, thorough, and practical solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems

• Design, write, and maintain code that is well-organized, scalable, testable, and doesn’t generate new problems (most of the time)

• Proactively identify and address issues, bottlenecks, gaps, and opportunities, implementing and advocating for changes

• Promote a culture of best practices, code quality, and shared responsibility for testing

• Contribute to refining our technical vision, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and advocating for innovative solutions

• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
  

What you’ll bring to the table: 

• Hands-on experience with backend development and engineering

• At least 4 years of professional experience in backend development and using the following: NodeJs, Python, MongoDB, MQTT, AWS.

• Experience with GO is a very nice to have as we are migrating part of our solution to microservices in GO

• Proven experience with building web-based applications and APIs

• Experience in writing clean, maintainable code and implementing SOLID principles

• Experience with testing approaches, strategies, and implementations at various levels

• Experience designing systems, not just implementing them. You can take an ambiguous product requirement and turn it into a technical design

• Understanding of continuous integration, deployment, and delivery

• Proficiency with logging, tracing, and monitoring tools

• Experience with version control best practices

• Proactive mindset with a strong focus on continuous improvement and learning.
